Question: What is your reading preference – fiction or nonfiction?
Answer: Why does it have to be one or the other? I don’t have a preferred preference. I read whatever book I have on hand.
Let’s compare the two.
Nonfiction: It is informative. You can learn a lot without having to go anywhere. Nonfiction can put you in someone else’s shoes and take you anywhere. Books like Kon-Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl and Lost Horizons by James Hilton are great books about real life adventures. Nonfiction can make you question things about the world. See my review for The Lost The Lost Civilization Enigma. A book that questions the idea of when ancient civilization begins.
Fiction: Is a form of escapism. Fiction can take you to fantastical worlds. You can suspend your disbelief and immerse yourself in a story. There are many genres that tell different stories. Fantasy and science fiction can take you to other worlds. Mystery and horror to give you a sense of dread.
It is clearly seen that fiction and nonfiction have different functions. What they both have in common is that there for enrichment and enjoyment.
I don’t see how I can have a preference. If I want to read something that gives me straight out facts, then I will read nonfiction. If I want escapism, then I will read fiction.
I read nonfiction when I want to know about something, but when I just want to read a book it’s fiction.

Sounds good! I just associate non-fiction with school, which I never really enjoyed, so I never pick them up. Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
